PRogress

We are a global company in the mobility industry, and regard ourselves as an engineering house. Through innovations on the frontiers of what is technologically possible, we are instrumental in shaping the sustainable mobility of the future, and are paving the way for the PWO Group of tomorrow. We are also applying our innovative strength in other current and future sales markets in order to combine sustainability and economic efficiency through environmentally-friendly solutions. This development is based on our entirely combustion engine-independent business model. In the continuous enhancement of our solutions and business model, we always reflect on and take into account the fast-moving needs of all our interest groups.

Through our expertise in lightweight steel, we are saving raw materials and improving economic efficiency

With its expertise in steel forming and lightweight design, the PWO Group has constantly found new ways of developing even better product solutions that meet our customers’ requirements. We go about this development work with a real passion. This enables us to reduce the use of raw materials, weight and CO2 emissions, and boost economic efficiency. We focus on the 3 future areas of mobility here: electrification, safety, and comfort.

Our market success is largely based on superior product design with extremely low tolerances. With our extensive expertise in cold forming of metals and joining technologies, we also handle the most complex geometries. We have the skills to use deep-drawing steels with different metal thicknesses, metal qualities or surface properties in the production process. As a result, we develop climate-friendly lightweight solutions.

Innovations at the limits of what is technologically feasible

Instrument panel carrier for a vehicle cockpit

In the instrument panel carriers sector, we develop solutions with a claim to global leadership. They help both to protect passengers and to reduce vibrations and noise in the vehicle interior – in the age of quiet e-mobility, this is becoming even more important than ever. The use of various materials enables highly complex geometries, and different joining techniques remove the need for many weld seams. With an instrument panel carrier having up to 55 components, these are success-critical factors. Of course, our current product solutions achieve a predefined target weight and meet much higher requirements, especially in terms of comfort, connectivity, and safety.

Cover for an electronic brake booster

We produce the cover for an electronic brake booster– a key component for e-mobility – in 8 variants from exceptionally thin 0.6 mm sheet metal. Extreme degrees of deformation are coupled with high requirements in terms of evenness and surface form tolerances here. At the same time, the creasing that readily occurs in sheet metal must be completely avoided. For design and optimization of this complex production process, we apply special criteria such as stress triaxiality and sheet thinning. To enable us to manufacture this product solution, we recently managed to extend process limits.
